Siqing Lu

Siqing Lu

Siqing Lu was born in 1969 in Qingdao, China and began violin study at four. He was accepted by the Central Conservatory of Music at the age of eight as a special student--the youngest student ever to attend the famed institution. At the age of 11, Siqing was selected by Yehudi Menuhin to study at his school in London. In 1984 he returned to China for advanced studies at the Conservatory in Beijing, and, five years later, he studied with Dorothy DeLay and Hyo Kang at the Juilliard School.

Siqing Lu was the first Chinese violinist to win the first prize at the prestigious Paganini International Violin Competition in Italy in 1987. He has performed in more than thirty countries throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia and has appeared as featured soloist with many leading orchestras and music festivals.

Siqing Lu was also the first Chinese violinist to be sponsored by the Stradivari Society of Chicago, and was chosen as featured soloist in the 1999 “Music under the Moonlight” concert in Beijing, performing on five magnificent Stradivari, Guarneri and Amati violins.

Mr. Lu uses a 17th century Stradivari violin, which is generously loaned to him by the Chi-Mei Museum of Taiwan.
